Language Immersion in Argentina and Uruguay

Travel Dates: June 18 – June 29* All tour dates are tentative until flights are booked in spring 2017

Itinerary:

Day 1: Today the group will fly from the USA to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 

Day 2: We will arrive in the morning and settle into our hotel. After some rest we'll have a brief orientation meeting and then enjoy a delicious dinner of traditional carne asada.

 

Day 3: After breakfast we're headed to the world famous neighborhood of La Boca, home to Diego Maradona's club team. We'll check out the stadium and the brightly colored facades of the area's center. We'll also stroll el Caminito de la Boca.

 

Day 4: Today we'll visit the world famous artisan market in San Telmo, a dizzying array of vendors, performers and people watching. Time to hone your bargaining skills! After we've had our fill of shopping we'll head to Casa Rosada, the residence and place of business of Argentina's president for a tour of the building.

 

Day 5: After breakfast students will begin their daily Spanish.

 

Day 6: After breakfast students will attend daily Spanish lessons.

 

Day 7: After breakfast we're off to Uruguay! Just across el Rio de la Plata lies Colonia, Uruguay, a idyllic colonial town and a fantastic weekend escape. We'll spend the entire day exploring this seaside town.

 

Day 8: In the morning students will return to their Spanish classes. In the afternoon we'll visit nearby Puerto Madero and la puente de la mujer, stopping for a delicious merienda (snack) along the way.

 

Day 9: In the morning students will have Spanish classes. After lunch in the afternoon we'll sharpen our dancing skills, taking a professionally taught tango lesson before visiting una milonga in El Catedral de Tango this evening.

 

Day 10: After breakfast students will attend daily Spanish classes. After lunch at school we'll visit the Oxford School, a local Argentinian high school, where we'll have an intercambio with the local students with time for a pick-up soccer match.

 

Day 11: After breakfast students will attend their last daily Spanish class followed by a graduation ceremony. In the afternoon we'll go out for la feria de Mataderos, a popular and traditional fair full of great shopping and people-watching. Finally, we will enjoy a farewell dinner together before our departure tomorrow.

 

Day 12: Fly home.
