What makes a Global Studies School unique?
Globalized Content and Curriculum
Educators at Global Studies Schools are committed to exposing students to the world through their content and curriculum. Through a two-year collaboration with Harvard’s Project Zero, we rooted our pedagogical approach to educating for global competence on Project Zero ideas. Through "The World in DC" project, a collaboration between the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and Project Zero, a research group at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, we connect DCPS content and curriculum with global perspectives and resources. 40 dedicated Teacher Fellows work together in monthly seminars and professional learning communities to bring global voices to all DCPS content areas and grades.
Uniquely Global Experiences for Students and Teachers
At Global Studies Schools we believe in bringing the world to our students through globalized content, authentic experiential learning opportunities and partnerships! From field trips connected to a unit of study and visits from international peers and local experts for our students to training from external partners such as US Institute of Peace, Pulitzer Center, and the National Gallery of Art for teachers, we believe in preparing all students and teachers for an interconnected world.
